Glad I'm not a forecaster but it drives me insane when I see people say "forecast was a bust, wrong, why do they get paid to be wrong, ect, ect"

National Weather Service New York NY
329 PM EST Wed Feb 22 2017

High pressure will remain across the western Atlantic, pumping a
warm and moist southerly flow
around it towards the local area.

Aloft, a split flow pattern continues with core of northern stream
well to our north and a slow moving upper low across the southeast
states within the southern stream.

Areas of fog and low stratus start the day on Thursday. The first
forecast challenge is the duration. The fog should lift through the
morning hours, but the stratus could hang on into the early
afternoon. This creates another challenge with regards to
temperatures. There is high confidence in seeing unseasonably warm
temperatures for this time of year. However, how quickly clearing
occurs will be important to how warm it gets away from the coast.

Highs should be able to reach the middle and upper 60s north and
west of the city where clearing occurs the quickest. In the NYC
metro, readings will be in the lower to middle 60s. Further east
across southern Connecticut and Long Island, temperatures will be
held in the 50s to near 60 due to onshore flow. If the clouds clear
quicker, then highs could end up warmer and some records could be
broken.
If clouds hang on longer, then highs could be held down
several degrees from current forecast
.

When do we change the clocks? These dark mornings seem to be forever lasting.. Although it is nice at 6am you "start" to see the light now finally.

Never mind, found it. March 12th we change the clocks but sucks the morning darkness will last little longer till April.

Current sunrise: 6:34am. In 3 weeks sunset will be at 7pm.

Wow at the fog this morning.

...DENSE FOG ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST THIS
MORNING...

* Visibilities...One quarter mile or less at times.

* Timing...This morning.

* Impacts...Limited visibilities will make travel difficult.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Dense Fog Advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to one quarter mile or less. If driving...slow down...use
your low beam headlights...and leave plenty of distance ahead of
you in case a sudden stop is needed.

Check out the coast vs inland CT differences. A Spring look. Cooler at the coast today, tomorrow, Saturday..

Looks like some activity picking up after this week.

I counted 6 events next 14 days! Fronts, storms, clippers, rains, snows. It's been since Feb 12th since I had precip accumulating.

1st one this Saturday is a front. March 4th and 5th could be back to back clippers with light snow.

March 7th looks like best potential for accumulating snows. Pattern would support it with cold air coming

As someone who is often on the road before 7am, I've been noticing "early daylight" coming back. But one downside of changing the clocks ahead almost a month earlier than we used to is (as you said) we go back to dark mornings until April.....

Temps don't look too bad next week. 20 degree drop from 65. I'll take 40's and they changed Wednesday from rain/snow to rain. Lows look to be in high 20's and low 30's next week.
