Let that sink in for a minute, that means they would have paid 400 million to the state of CT in taxes!

GE will leave unless the crook Malloy gives them some kind of tax break.
You do realize, GE is going to shop around for a state that WILL give them a huge tax break or other sweetheart deal right?

If you're on Malloy's case for the UTC deal, you should be against any company's "we'll leave unless you give us what we want" threats.

Why not choose a state with no corporate income tax? CT has a 9% tax, Nevada has a rate of 0%

States With the Lowest Corporate Income Tax Rates (Infographic)

YOU DO REALIZE THAT SOME STATES HAVE A ZERO CORPORATE TAX DON'T YOU BASEHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe because they want their kids to be well educated?
Maybe they don't want to be land-locked?
Maybe they need to be near major cities?

Lots of reasons.

The education angle is such a sham. the entire state of CT could fit in the metro of other cities. States down south and out west have lower average education because they have rural areas 4x the land mass of CT.

Unless GE plans of moving to some Appalachian town in NC with <1000 residents, the education will be just as good or better than towns in CT. Fact.

Plus 40-50% will relo. Just as many Met Life folks did. Just as Nissan hq folks went from Ca to Nashville MTSA.

And they will want 50-60% locals as the state winning them will offer far more incentives for local hires.

This is so very true. While I am quite satisfied with the quality of the schools where we live it gets tiresome seeing posts bad mouthing the schools of entire regions of the country as if a high level of education can only be obtained in CT.

Amen. Ct loses most of its college grads, and college % of pop rates are rising, almost universally, in regions with high transplant populations.

Ct needs to stop looking for a way to keep a corp hostage, as doing it the natural way is the most sustaining. Create a dynamic, cost effective business climate.

That's an interesting theory, but isn't true in my experience.

I operated two business in urban areas of Texas. Education was not equivalent to what it is here. Heavily urbanized areas down south tend to have the worst schools.

When states are compared on educational attainment scores are averaged . It's just bogus to claim that educational attainment statistics are effected by land mass or population size.

Perhaps you are find ways to present Connecticut in an even poor light-- even if they don't stand up to statistical scrutiny?
