I'm sorry, but even at full time, 40 hours/week, $10 an hour equates to about $21,000 a year before taxes. That is not a livable wage to own a condo and a car unless some other kind of income is coming in. Right after college I was living in a 1 bedroom apartment at $900/month with a car payment, making twice that and my expenses = my income with zero room to spare...and I am very frugal with my money.

Shared labor at the casino. He occasionally gets tips from working in the coat room, but not much. The condo only cost him $50k. He had a 20% down payment and does pay a higher condo fee than I'd like to see him pay, but he has been there for a couple of years now and still saves 10% of his income into the 401K. I like the pool that his condo owns.

This job is pretty good for him. He's got learning and developmental disabilities that make things a little more difficult for him.

The rest of the state is nothing like FFC.
Even without Fairfield County Connecticut would be an affluent state. Hartford, New Haven, Litchfield, Middlesex and Tolland counties all are fairly well off. They may not have the super-rich wealth of some towns in Fairfield, but then again few places in this country do. Jay

PS: most suppliers are not little these days. The big auto producers rely on very few. At least in that industry.

I realize a lot of Sikorsky's supply chain is little.
I think there is a strong argument to be made that TN NEEDS these jobs coming in, at any wage and any cost to the taxpayers, where CT is healthier overall and does not need to incentivize to this degree.

Except in recent years Ct has been giving out the same megabucks..400 mill to UTC. I applaud it for realizing that jobs are assets now, and wise corps make sure they are sufficiently incentivized for bestowing jobs upon a region.

As for healthier, hopefully Ct is still healthy when Malloy leaves. Based on all the corps debating their future locale, I'm not sure Ct can offset his recklessness.
