These are really great suggestions!! The pic the OP posted really has me craving one -- haven't had one all summer and it's already half over!! I'm almost never on the shoreline, so does anyone have a good suggestion more inland/western portion of the state or is that just a waste of time? As a native NY-er, my pre-CT experience with lobster rolls were those disgusting mayonnaise dredged/gross "salady-type" things served up in a top-split hotdog bun

My first experience with a plain/drawn butter Ct-style lobster was nothing short of a Eureka moment for me that I will probably remember forever... So far my two favorites in Ffld county have been Crab Shell in Stamford, and then this almost half dumpy place smack on rte 7 in Ridgefield -- the Ridgefield place serves it with drawn butter on a garlic aioli schmeered bun. I'm sure not "authentic" but still very good..

Any other suggestions that don't involve a trip to the shoreline? TIA

Seven Seas in Milford, while not 100% consistent (had a couple that were a little overcooked), has been my favorite so far.

Lobster Hut in Milford, and Lobster Landing in Clinton are consistently great as well.

I've tried a bunch. Abbott's was actually my least favorite. But what a view.

Abbott's is an Awesome view!! It's been longer than I'd like to admit, but I will always/forever remember and love it!! Their fries suck though lol!

City Fish market in wethersfield, on the silas dean.

Generous helping of lobster on a butter, toasted (not soggy) hard roll.

All the other lobster shacks in CT use a crappy hotdog roll which turn to mush and ruins the experience.

Blue Lobster Seafood
376 Berlin Turnpike, Berlin, CT 06037

Of course it does not beat the Maine Lobester rolls but they do have them fresh.

Frankies does good but they use the right bun...think they butter it up then toast it.

A coworker has raved to me about J's Crab Shack in West Hartford (574 New Park Rd.) I haven't tried it yet, but hope to get there for lunch one day soon. Website says they offer both styles: cold w/ mayo or hot buttered.

I feel the hot buttered takes the true lobster taste away

I've had some good ones at:

The Blue Oar in Haddam
Lenny's in Branford
Seven Seas in Milford
The Elm in New Canaan

Not a big fan of Abbots. Have been there a couple of times and can't see what the fuss is all about.

Also, lobster rolls are hot with butter. Cold with mayo is a lobster salad roll and pales in comparison.
