Yup.. confirming near peak in Darien. New Drone Video from Bill O.. With the decent rains coming mid week, we will start to thin out more. So this weekend is a good time for a drive through CT. Although Sunday I think some clouds and showers too.

You might be ok next weekend but taking a chance that the wind and rain don't ruin it too much.

Definitely peaking and past peaking in many areas now even in Fairfield County.

Today I went to visit a friend in Bedford, NY. Despite that the town is literally north of Stamford, there is a marked difference in the amount of leaves still on the trees in much of Stamford vs Bedford.

I know elevation plays a role in this too, in fact its quite common during the winter months to drive through a snow covered Bedford and notice how quickly the snow coverage dissappaers as one approaches downtown Stamford.

Stamford is at peak entering the past peak stage while Bedford is past peak, at least along the route I drove through.

My house has been outstanding this year, as has all of the Wallingford area. I have 3 very large oaks in my backyard along the woodline who have done me the pleasure of turning/falling at different rates which makes the mowing easier to keep up with. One is already bare, the other is just turning orange red and the other is yellow.

This has been a fantastic season in comparison to the others, but they did warn on the weather that we are in for plenty of precipitation this winter so if temps get cold enough that could mean a lot of snow. I'd rather have a snowy than a slushy/wet winter.

The oaks and Sugar Maples seem to have done well with colors but overall a pretty bland year. Maple colors are dull except the sugars. Also the fact that there were early drops from the heat and dryness it looked thinned out before peak.

We are all past peak now in CT except some local spots which are probably mostly oaks anyway.

More bare trees around now and colors are past their top brightness on their way to drop off.

We are about 2 weeks later than normal.

The leaves on my Japanese maple pretty much died when we had the cold snaps.
