Less government in what sense? Federal? State? Local? All of them? Because that could very well affect your police force, schools/teachers, and several others important functions that are provided by taxes.

Capitalism works well with regulation. People are so ignorant when they hear the word socialism. Then these folks go and vacation in Europe and tell their friends about all these places they visited that are really all heavy socialist nations. What Bernie proposes is really just regulated Capitalism and America has already seen such when FDR was President. Nothing new aside from that. He's considered a moderate/towards the right in many actual capitalist countries.

People are literally spoon fed definitions from the media. Many can't even differentiate between Capitalism, American Capitalism, Socialism, National Socialist, and Communism. Not till Fox News spoon feeds you what you should believe.

WRONG!

People in the U.S. HAVE seen what socialism is like. We've already experienced it in places like Detroit or the Bronx. Or here, in CT, on a smaller scale in Bridgeport and Hartford where people fled to the surrounding suburbs.

Because that's what REAL socialism- in practice- is like. The corporations and wealthy people are taxed until they leave, then the burden falls on the middle class until they leave, or become poor themselves and join the ranks of an ever increasing number of poor people.

Sanders and his fans imagine that the U.S. will turn into mini, cute-and-quaint Swedish villages where everyone is hardworking and polite and everything is just right. But not even Sweden or even all of Scandinavia is really like this.

The U.S will simply end up increasingly poor and taken advantage of by parasites, until the nation is another third world country.

As the country continues to advance technologically more and more cheap labor positions will become obsolete.

Most "poor" people don't have the ability to get professional work.

That's why it's insane to keep encouraging more illegals and continuous immigration into the country without people being able to support themselves.

They just contribute to the pool of people who need aid.

Big news over the weekend was the resignation of some of Carson's staff, including his Campaign manager.

He was doing well and even was leading Trump in some polls for a while but lost his momentum. Resignations like this normally mean it's all downhill.

"In an interview with ABC on Sunday, Carson cast the departures of those aides — campaign manager Barry Bennett, communications director Doug Watts, and deputy campaign manager Lisa Coen — as a shakeup that reflects the growing pains of a presidential bid that has exceeded expectations."

He should have bailed sooner. I can't for the life of me understand why a person like Ben Carson who is obviously smarter than most people - be so dumb. I wouldn't trust him to manage a picnic.

He gives the old adage "one doesn't have to be a brain surgeon" a whole new meaning.

Carson's not "dumb". He doesn't know everything and has some unusual ideas but they don't mean he is "dumb". Most of his knowledge is just highly specialized.

He did very well for himself in the campaign considering he started as an unknown. He is one of only a few people in a very flexible position where nobody really expected him to win and anything achieved was only a bonus for him.

He doesn't really have the necessary experience to take the U.S. where most American want it to be and caters to a more narrow segment of the party.

When he first began I think most people were hoping he would turn into a Republican Bernie Sanders and a more diplomatic kind of Trumpesque outsider. But he veered off into his own tangent espousing weird ideas and now sounds like he's overly involved in his campaign drama.

He achieved notoriety and some money and may land himself a position in future govt or run for a different political office.

Pretty much... He should have saved these conversations for other days and other settings.

He got way off topic and too many people began to think he is strange.

You apparently have no idea what socialism is....

We've experienced socialized services nationwide. For all the "socialism" we have here in CT we have a much higher density of millionaires than any red state... I wonder why that is?

I think you need to stop thinking Russia and start thinking of Germany. Strong economy and social services for residents. Jay.

Neither of you are arguing your points well. Pakistan has plenty of millionaires and even billionaires, that's hardly an appropriate metric for the success and ability to thrive of the middle class. I think comparing CT to communists countries is inaccurate, but acting like CT doesn't try to squeeze everyone dry is also inaccurate. Acting like the 900 billion on welfare is money well spent is also inaccurate. lets all be reasonable.
