The state did not grant the funds requested. They also said no to AGI Rubber funding plus Honey Locust Square funding.

The full state pool available through 2030 is $875 million, so the theatres sought over 11% of full state funds for eight years.

AGI Rubber will sail through IMHO if Bridgeport submits it alone, for funding.

That would be awesome. When Jai Alai opened it made sense to be there, but I still disliked they used waterfront property for that. Contrast that with Milford where jai alai was on a long-term, grimy looking industrial road.

I am not a Bridgeport cheerleader or Steelpointe as too little progress was made over decades, but this article is good news. Now Ganim must use multiple brain cells and resubmit for state funds just neighboring AGI Rubber.

Exclude the Poli/Majestic fantasy money requests, and AGI sails through, gets the $8.1 million they need.

Bridgeport’s historic Bijou theater has a new owner. The 1909 theater is the oldest live entertainment/movie theater in the country still open as a live entertainment and movie theater. Great to see it’s still going strong and will continue for years to come. Jay

That's not quite correct. It is the oldest purpose-built movie theatre in the country (e.g. it was built specifically for movies not live shows).

According to their website, the Bijou was designed for both movies and live vaudeville shows. Jay
