I hope they can change East End of Bridgeport lots of open space

I feel pretty safe on the East End walking and driving so so ha lots of people cut you off. I only stick to Boston Post Rd and Stratford area then meander up to the Trumbull area near Broadbridge.

Haven't been down to the south east side of Bridgeport so don't know.

It's done only if you give up on it and completely ignore the lessons of what made it that way.


The East End may take a very long time to recover- if it ever does but there are other cities that may follow it's course.


The other issue is that's it's a large burden on the state financially. We should look to address these issues rather than just avoid them.

Here is an interesting article on the status of the Remington Woods property. For those that don't know it, Remington Woods is a 400+ acre property in northeast Bridgeport and Stratford that was owned by the Remington Arms division of Dupont. The property was used for years as a munitions dump but is now being cleaned up for development. It has great potential for future development and tying into on going plans for the city's East Side including Steel Point, Barnum Station and General Electric's site development plans. Unfortunately Remington Woods is still years away from seeing any development but it is good to see some progress being made. Jay

Ganim is saying that he will finally do something with the long abandoned Lowes Poli/Majestic Theaters on Main Street. The fact that these stunning theaters are still standing is a miracle. It would be great if they could be brought back like the Palace was in Waterbury. Of course he had promised this when he was Mayor years ago and nothing was done. Certainly there is a lot of good things happening downtown that could be built upon but this would likely involve a lot of effort and a very imaginative group with deep pockets. The theaters are massive, 3,200 and 2,200 seats. Not sure what could be done with such large buildings. We will see. Jay
