Yeah. Replace the high pay P&W manufacturing jobs with low pay retail jobs.

I’m not sure what this has to do with Pratt & Whitney. Pratt still employs thousand at its East Hartford facility. This is going to take a tired old retail corridor and upgrade it. What’s wrong with that? Jay

Just what CT needs - more trashy strip malls.

New outlet malls are pretty much dead in future development. All the ones talked about never went anywhere.
West Haven, New Haven, Bristol,etc....

That’s what they are looking to replace. Jay

The Town of East Hartford has approved what it hopes is the first of many projects to redevelop the Silver Lane corridor. This one is over 400 apartment units where the old Showcase Cinemas was. I hope it is the catalyst for more. Jay

As an update to the above post, the Town of East Hartford has approved a 470 unit apartment complex at the old Showcase Cinema site off Silver Lane. Coupled with the massive logistic/tech center at Rentschler Field and a possible redevelopment of Silver Lane Plaza, the fortunes of this area should improve dramatically. Jay

Wow! The new owners of the massive Rentschler Field site have announced two enormous leases. Wayfair and Lowe’s will lease a total of 2.5 million square feet for logistic centers. That’s incredible. I still wonder if this is the best use for the site but it is what Northland was planning. Jay

I’m pretty apprehensive about this one. Noise, traffic and light pollution. They are supposed to clean up the site which is good.

Did you hear the town took over the Silver Lane plaza too? That’s better news IMO

It is a straight shot from Rentschler Field to 84. I can't imagine it would cause too much of a traffic or noise problem, except you may see a reconfiguring of the traffic light at Roberts St and Silver Lane.

That Silver Lane plaza may be the dumpiest piece of property in East Hartford. What a massive eyesore, it just reeks of despair. I did not hear about the town taking it over, that is awesome news.
