Ridgefield and Fairfield are quite cool. A lot of people work in NYC and although the lifestyle is suburban, the culture is quite progressive. Plus, Fairfield has a bit of a city feel to it with lots of stores, restaurants and stuff to do.

Monroe and Trumbull are more country, which, if that's what you are into, is great; but they definitely seem more traditional than Ridgefield and Fairfield, IMO.

Trumbull, country? It's quite a bit more suburban than Ridgefield.

I live in Trumbull and it is suburban and we have a mall, a Home Depot etc. Ridgefield is much more country.
