I work as an actuary and all the other actuaries at work say the same thing.

CT will have to eventually default on the Pension obligations.

Hopefully the default happens before all the taxpayer money is confiscated by Malloy.

IL, NJ, KY all have the same issues democrats are running their finances into the ground.

We have 19 trillion of national debt and we will probably default on that too

They need to cut spending period.

Agreed.

On a federal level let's start by cutting the military in half.

On a state level, let's cut the massive overtime expenditures for state employees. Let's also cut the welfare to large corporations such as GE...

But you don't agree with the actuaries

Only 15% of federal spending is on the military. CT doesn't spend any money on the military.

What corporate welfare are you talking about? We have the highest corporate tax rate at 35%.

GE is leaving because they don't want to pay CT corporate taxes which they have to pay on top of 35%.

Again what corporate welfare are you talking about? How about we eliminate welfare, we let people opt out of Social Security and obamacare. That will cut the 80% of federal spending you don't have the guts to touch.

Lets be honest, Liberals are gutless liars. They don't want to cut they want to call Bush a war criminal and blame everything on racism.

We have 19 Trillion of debt, don't be a gutless coward. Cut federal spending by 50%. That includes your cherished redistribution programs.

9/11 terrorists killed 2,799 people on American soil. We have Syrians seeking refuge, we have hidden terrorist cells operating in the US and you want to cut military spending? You cant bring a knife to a gun fight, our countries vulnerability needs to be strengthened.

Umm...Can we go back to talking about CT vs KS?

CT will face financial difficulty in the not so distant future (we've already seen this with the last few budgets that have been passed) - there is no arguing that. What can we do on a STATE level to curb it?

I had the "cajones" to stare down colon cancer. I have had the cajones to start three business and employ dozens of people over the years. I have the cajones to think for myself rather than parrot the Fox echo-chamber. I'm not angry nor bitter.

You're more than welcome to question and debate my political beliefs. You are not welcome to insult me personally or insinuate anything. Being a keyboard commando says a lot more about your "cajones" than mine.

The military can't operate on US soil, so, hidden terrorist cells are a Federal law enforcement matter. 100 X the number of people killed on 9/11 have been killed by gun crime since then. Where's your outrage there?

And yes, I want to cut our absurd military spending.

Another one of these threads? Really? Do we really need more misinformation to feed on people's fears? The population of Connecticut is NOT decreasing. According to the 2010 census Connecticut had a population of 3,574,096, while in 2014 the population was estimated to be 3,596,677. That is not a decrease. And as NedSage so accurately points out, retirees moving south is nothing new. Has been going on for decades and decades. Enough already. Jay

What do you consider a "redistribution" program?

I'm all for cutting social security (24% of the budget). Make it means tested. We don't have the money at this point.

Let's cut the military in half.

Since education, transportation, get a paltry 2% each-- Let's increase spending on those and spend what we need to modernize our country. Let's also raise taxes back to where they were in the Regan era.

As of the 2010 United States Census, the city population was 382,368; as of 2014, it was estimated to have increased to 388,413.

yeah already sounds more interesting than anything in CT.
BUT... in Kansas City you are not 2 hours away from 2 of the greatest cities in this country, are you? If you are bored here, then it YOUR problem, not Connecticut's. Jay
