Me and my sister are deciding to move to Connecticut but still want to work in Long Island where we currently reside at. We want to leave LI because the rent is to high we currently spend $1300 for studio apartment and we are trying to save money. And we saw that Connecticut has some cheap apartments. I think what my sister is worrying about the commuting back and forth as well not being late for work. So I have some questions that I hope someone can help me with
1) Where is the best place to live in Connecticut that are close to the ferry?
2) Does anyone know the cost on the ferry from Mon-Sun with a car and two adults to Connecticut to Long Island ?
3) Does the ferry run everyday ,even on holidays?

I know me and my sister are looking at places in CT about $800 to $900 a month. We make about $1600 each monthly which add up $3200 together.I work in Patchogue and she is 30 min away from me. So I know living in Connecticut will work but the commuting is scaring my sister because she has to be to work at 8:00am and I have to be to work at 10:00 but she can drop me off early which she already does now. And I already called ferry and they said they start at 6:00am and we have to be their 15 min if I'm not mistaken.

$800-$900 will put in Bridgeport which has ferry to Port Jefferson in Long Island travel between two places on ferry is about 30-45 minutes on boat. Bridgeport I would look into Black Rock neighborhood anything west of Ellsworth street you need budget of $950-$1050, North End north of capital ave and west of Main Street budget of $950-$1100. Anything less $900 in Bridgeport will be sketchy area. Those two locations are 10 minutes from Downtown Bport and ferry, there buses that go close enough to Ferry. You going have nearly 2 hour commute to work by ferry/car or ferry/train.

I'm actually interested if this could even easily be done. Isn't the ferry traditionally horrendously unreliable?

I wonder if this price for the ferry for two adults and the car? Are is this for one adult and the car and I would have to get a separate pass?

I have another question about Connecticut do they have optimum cable and do they have different electric company for different counties?

I think $231 monthly pass is for one adult per car. You need to buy additional ticket for second passenger.

You might be looking at $900 in rent and at least $300 in travel expenses and additional 2 hour commute per day.

you might not be saving much but you will be exhausted with the commute for sure. Good luck!

btw, we have optimum here and UI is one of the electricity provider
