i dont mind living next to a highway, but only because I've always lived within walking distance of an I-91 onramp. Maybe if i wasnt used to it, it would deter me but If i were to buy a home proximity to a highway would not affect me. in fact, i prefer to live in a location that is easily highway accessible.

Definitely not! Way too loud. I couldn't imagine never having the opportunity to just sit out in the backyard and relax peacefully with a highway right there.

Over the past 16 years, I've never lived more than 1/2 mile from I-84. For 10 years, I was about 750 feet from the highway (near exit 26). I very rarely heard the traffic.

Not for this guy either.

I lived right off of I-84 in Danbury for 3 years - my apartment was visible to eastbound traffic. I always heard the low 'hum' of the vehicles at night and the loud trucks 24/7. The only good thing was that I could look out the second floor window and be able to tell whether or not I should avoid traffic. After awhile I became used to it, but if I were in the market for a home, I'd steer clear of any neighborhoods near the highway. You will have a hard time reselling, there's no question about that. Good luck with whatever decision you make!

Personally I woudn't even consider a house close to a highway or even a regular road. When I purchased this house, I loved this neighborhood and looked at every house for sale in it, some had 1792 on the other side of their back fence, I didn't consider these homes.

I am very sensetive to sound and I don't like to hear all that in my backyard. I am far enough into the neighborhood that you can stand in my backyard and not hear cars going by which I like. I can open the windows and sliding doors and hear children in the distance and sometimes the ice cream truck but thats about it.

Nope.im a broker in CT and have had a listing close to I95.Its been impossible to sell.Remember Location,location,location

If it's such a problem...then why is it there are so many housing developments near highways and trains?
This is not just old developments...I see new ones right off the highway.
