Hi...my name is Bill and me and my family have been living in Jupiter Florida for the last 20 years. My wife and I have been wanting to move back up North to be closer to her family. We are interested in any state in the Northeast. Our kids are in 9th, 7th, and 3rd grade and my wife is a stay at home mom. My wife has been searching homes in the Northeast that are within our 750000 budget. Thanks for helping!

Welcome back!

What part of CT are you interested in? You could afford a small-ish home in lower Fairfield County in a good school town, but you could get a very nice home in New Haven or Hartford Counties on that budget in a town with very good schools - the same with Middlesex and New London Counties.

Need to tell us more. City or town? Coast or inland? Rural? Near cities?

Talked with my wife and she would like an inland or coastal town near a city. My wife and I have been discussing a town around New Haven or Hartford. We lived in Oxford before moving to Florida.

Will you be needing a job? If so, the job and the commute is going to determine to a great extent where you might look.

If job is not a factor look into the Farmington Valley area, if want to be inland also near water look into Essex/Lyme area. Want to be near the coast look into Stonington/Waterford/Niantic area. With your housing budget really shouldn't be much of an issue.

If you want a busier life look at the Gold Coast area from New Haven on down to Greenwich, but I prefer the quiet side of CT. Also mostly less expensive housing options outside of the Fairfield County area.

Those areas are not near cities.

I think Farmington Valley area makes sense, or Glastonbury area around Hartford.

In New Haven area, either Orange/Milford/Woodbridge area to be closer to Fairfield County and NYC, or Guilford/Madison/Branford to be in a quieter and slightly less expensive area.

What about moving back to Oxford? It's become an affluent town with great schools. You won't have to spend more than 500k to get a beautiful home. Less than 30 mins to New Haven, Bridgeport, Danbury and Waterbury, and among the lowest property taxes in the state. Welcome back!

You have not really given enough details or preferences in order for us to make a focused recommendation. But my recommendation would be something like Wethersfield, West Hartford, Rocky Hill, etc. $750K is an extremely high budget, so you shouldn't have a problem finding something.
