I want to get into coaching, and there's a class at Manchester CC that's an approved class at a state institution to fulfill the 3 credit hour/45 clock hour to start the 5 year coaching permit. I'm taking the 45 block/hour class in Cheshire anyways, so I don't really need to take this class, but aside from helping out my sister with AYSO soccer, and then a parent from that soccer team in basketball I figure taking another class wouldn't hurt. They also have classes at Norwalk & Naugatuck Valley, but neither of those are getting offered in the Spring at those schools, so the only class in this field is available at MCC at 8 AM. It's only 2 times a week (Monday & Wednesday) so it's not like I'll be going up there every day, so it's not the end of the world if I spend a couple nights up in E. Hartford or Manchester the night before, but how bad would traffic be through Hartford at this time?? I'll be leaving early enough and going against traffic up until about Wethersfield or Rocky Hill, so until then I should probably be good, but what's it like from there on, on a normal weekday morning @ 7:30??

I recommend looking into Norwalk they have a degree program that can use to branch over to athletic training I believe. I think they offer it over the summer can always do a EMT course now while you wait.

That's a tough time of day to need to do that trip. I would want to be hitting Rocky Hill closer to 7am to avoid the worst of the traffic.

If I get on 84, I'd have to go through Hartford anyways. Now that I think about it, I don't think I'd even have to go through Hartford: 15 to 91 to 3 to 2 to 84 in East Hartford (bypassing Hartford) than 384 to Manchester. Probably still be bad, but probably better then driving through downtown Hartford I would assume.

Whatever you do, avoid going through downtown Hartford. Do not take Route 8 to I-84 eastbound. You will hit traffic in Waterbury and coming into Hartford. Also do not take I-91 to Route 5/15 northbound (Exit 29 - the Charter Oak Bridge). The ramp for that backs up for over a mile each day and there are always accidents. Definitely not worth it.

Taking the route above, you will avoid the worst of Hartford traffic. You will still hit some slow traffic on Route 2 through East Hartford, but after Main Street in East Hartford (the exit for Pratt & Whitney) it is not too bad. That is only a mile. I take this section of Route 2 every day. It is slow but moves, just stay in the right lane all the way up to the I-84 eastbound ramp because the left lane takes you to I-84 westbound and there is always about a mile of traffic waiting to get on I-84 westbound there to head into Hartford or to I-91 northbound. Once you get on I-84 eastbound, it will be an easy ride. The trip is about 60 miles so without traffic it is about an hour. During rush hour I would add 10 to 15 minutes for an unexpected delay. Jay
