Hi All,

My mom will be visiting me for Christmas, and it'll be just she and I for Christmas dinner.

Do you know of any great places where we can go to get a good Christmas meal? Specifically, one that isn't too overpriced?

We thought of cooking. But really, it'll be too much time, effort, and food, for just 2 people. And I"m not a huge fan of Thanksgiving or Christmas leftovers. So, we are opting to dine out this Christmas.

I live in Hartford County, if this helps at all.

Thanks for your advice/recommendations!

I found this article from last year to give you an idea of places to check. I hope it helps. Another thing you could do is order a premade dinner from somewhere and eat in. I know Highland Park Market does nice dinners to pick up in advance. Whole Foods does too. We order a ham every Christmas from the Honey Baked Ham Company in Newington. They have a wide variety of sides too. All are very good. Just some thoughts. Jay

Look into Abigail's in Simsbury. It's a colonial era tavern that dates back to the 1700's. Supposedly George Washington visited the tavern. It's also known to be haunted and was on Ghost Hunters (if you're both into that sort of thing). The staff members had pretty interesting stories about seeing ghosts and weird noises. I went to Abigail's a few years ago on Christmas Eve and loved it.

Aww,well I called the 2 nearest J Gilberts to me, and unfortunately, both will be closed for Christmas.

So, this is a no go.

But thank you for the rec!
