What Staying in Daylight Saving Time Year-Round Would Look Like In Connecticut

Christmas mornings that are still dark and Kids waiting for the bus with no sun

CONNECTICUT LATER SUNRISE TIMES:
Thanksgiving — 7:50 a.m. in Hartford
Christmas Morning — 8:16 a.m. in Hartford
Valentine's Day — 7:47 a.m.

As I said upthread, I have lived in a place that has post-8am sunrises in the winter. To be frank, it really sucks. I am against the biannual clock changing but I also don't think the "DST or die" crowd yet realizes what they are signing on for in the northeast come winter time. At the end of the day, whichever permanent time we choose (standard or DST) will come with drawbacks. I am just not convinced that people are fully aware of what they are in for just yet.

Imagine living in Indianapolis under DST:

Thanksgiving - 8:40 AM
Christmas - 9:04 AM
Valentine's Day - 8:38 AM.

Dark morning wakeups are brutal. Who cares if it's dark at 5pm. You can't do anything then anyway in CT unless you want to freeze half to death.

Agree. I’m a morning person anyway, and I’m usually in bed by 10 at the latest. I can’t imagine an after 8 am sunrise on a regular basis.

That would suck.

Just not as much as getting dark at 4PM sucks.

On that weather note... Not only model updates will be an hour later in the winter but the morning commute may be more "frozen" since the sun coming up later means the temperatures stay colder in the morning. Vise Versa in the evening though. More sunlight means a little easier road melting 3-6pm and maybe no changeover to snow as fast when the event is marginal

You should pass that along to those who think this is such a good idea!
