We will hopefully be closing on our current home May 31 but our new home may not be ready until the later half of June. Do moving companies provide interim storage for a reasonable fee or delay delivery. How does this all work?

Depends... if you're using short-distance movers from craigslist or something then I don't think I've seen one that stores stuff. If you're using a big, networked moving company that has long-haul services then those will usually let you store your stuff for a hefty fee... I say hefty because it would cost less to rent out a storage unit and have it delivered there. But if you only need it for 2 weeks then that's not worth the hassle to save a few bucks.

There are a few companies that deliver pods to your driveway and you load or you can pay them to load/unload and they will store your pods and deliver them to your new driveway when you want them delivered. You can get online quotes too. Try U-Pack, PODS, 1800packrat and there may be others.

I am not sure a pods type situation would be useful, except perhaps got the boxes. I will call however.

If it's a reputable mover, they should provide some sort of storage service, but I have no clue on what the charges would be, as most of the situations I've been involved with have been 2-3 days at the most.

I just called. Actually there is flexibility. They send movers out to load the stuff we can't. We load the boxes and remaining items. We have three days. It then takes a week to ten days to reach the destination. $595 for storage and then unloading at the other end. From CT TO Fl. about $3500
