Hi all, I am exploring the idea of changing my place to one where there is no gas and everything is electricity (heating, AC, stove, hot water etc etc).

I am in the office during the day so I barely use anything during the day and only cook during weekends. Currently I see that for the past 1.5y my average monthly payments for gas and electricity have been $35 (gas) and 61 (electric).

Do you have an idea how much would these number change if I move to place that uses electricity only?

Thanks!

I owned a 3 level condo in Stamford. 2 rooms upstairs. 3 rooms main level and a basement.

All electric.

Basement was never on. Bedrooms were always off except at night. Kept main rooms below 70°. Only had window AC.

Summer $100-200 per month
Winter $250-400 per month

Never again

How many sqft are we talking about stand at what temperature? I appreciate your input but your parameters are not really something I can scale up or down toward my situation.

Shouldn't there be some more info online explaining to people what are the differences and what should their expectations be?

900 sq ft not including basement.

Try Google, you'll probably get better results and less opinions.

Don't know what was more frustrating and annoying. The fact that I didn't have a digital thermostat (in each room) or the fact that I constantly had to watch how much electric was being used.

One time my monthly electric bill was over $500. I realized the basement heat was on for 2 weeks

Yeah I saw your posts on the same topic in other threads Trying to get more out of google but not a lot of relevant information out there.

As I mentioned I currently pay 35 for gas and 61 for electricity - from what i have been told this is on the very low end. The current occupant of the place stays there the whole day and pays between 180-220 - cant know if the claim that they stay there the whole day is true though and how much electricity they consume.. Anyways - thanks and hoping for some more replies
