If I contacted the state police for numbers, that would be "secondhand". As I said, I know firsthand.

It's best not to make assumptions, my friend.

The state police definitely respond when off duty. I have an officer that lives behind me, diagonally to the north. In winter he can see my house though the woods and one night in winter I was in the back yard with my dog and a flashlight at about 9:30. She was doing her business and I was shining the light on the house. Big deal. As I went in the house, I looked out front in time to see a SUV racing up my driveway- it stopped at my garage and my neighbor got out pistol in hand running toward the back of my house. I didn't know it at the time, but people were breaking into houses in my neighborhood and he thought he had one! Dude was in his house pants just relaxing and he responded like lightening. I've never felt safer knowing he's back there. He can have the Expedition and drive his kids to school for all I care.

They haven't yet

We have an oversupply of troopers and therefore I conclude that they are overpaid
Oh so you thank your employer for your job. And you thank the stock owners of the company you work for as well? Yeah, right. Jay

I'm sure you'll direct me back to Google as you did before, but, I'll hope for the best.
Now even I think you are being stubborn on this one. Do you really expect to find statistics kept on this? There aren't but I do clearly remember when the Sandy Hook shooting occurred there was a large number of off duty troopers who responded immediately. That was according to a news report I saw but I do not remember which one. If off duty troopers did not have their vehicles and the equipment to respond quickly it would have taken a long time for the amount of response that they had. This is called readiness and in an emergency like Sandy Hook time is of the essence. This is a small cost to pay for that ability. And before someone questions this further, remember we are not paying troopers to be on duty 24/7, but having the ability to have them available faster or even available is worth it. I do not see how anyone does not see the value in that. Jay

Ok Ok. Point conceded.

Can we agree that most DMV services should be moved online?

I thank my company every chance I get.

Lets face it they pay me all this money and I get a choice to leave and go some place else if I don't like it there.

The State Police are a different story entirely. They force me to pay high salaries well over what the market can pay.

I work in the free market and I am paid what I am worth. The government employees especially the police do not function in a free market system.

Just listen to all the incorrect posts about the danger police face. Its overblown due to false hero worship. Give me a break
