I wouldn't recommend anyone become house poor. Suggesting someone increase their budget by 150k is fiscally irresponsible.

There are only 50 homes on the market 350K and below in Stamford/Norwalk and 18 are already under contract. So slim pickings. (none in E. Norwalk as mentioned by someone else).
Norwalk is the last outpost for a one hour train ride. There are a couple of trains from S. Norwalk in the AM that get you to GC in one hour. There is one E. Norwalk at 7:20 direct (E Nor is the last stop) that gets into GC in about an hour.

Anything within 1 hour or less commute in CT you will increase your budget Condos are going for $450,000 and up if you want 3 bedrooms with 2 full baths etc in Stamford/Greenwich

Anything past Norwalk it less NYC centered it getting more mix of New England with longer commutes.
