My roommate in college was from Darien CT, super nice guy even thou he was insanely rich. I visited Darien HS before very nice teachers and students seemed to like the school. The people were more down to earth than I thought they would be and it is a very very nice town. I do not know anything about Greenwich. Just chiming in but Darien is a super nice town .

While I don't necessarily disagree with the idea of it (within a town itself), Riverside and Old Greenwich command something like a 40% premium over other parts of town, and a lot of that difference has to do with the schools (recent tax revaluations show this shift as well). So if you just paid that kind of premium to buy a house for a specific school assignment, then you would probably be alarmed by the idea.
