Our richest county has put Connecticut on the map again, this time in the world of unfaithful husbands.

Quote:
When anonymous hackers divulged customer data from a popular extramarital matchmaking website, many just saw a juicy scandal.

But two University of Toledo graduate students found material ripe for research.

Michael Chohaney and Kimberly Panozzo used the data, retrievable online after hackers swiped it last year from the website Ashley Madison, to map areas of the United States with the most unfaithful husbands.

The result was a first-of-its-kind geographical look at internet-facilitated infidelity, and serves as a warning to the wives of affluent Fairfield County, Connecticut, home to tony Greenwich and Stamford.

That area posted the highest rate of male subscribers who paid the website to engage in extramarital affairs.

Researchers found the Fairfield area led the nation with 6.23 Ashley Madison subscriptions per 1,000 people aged 18 to 79, followed by the metropolitan areas of Boulder, Colorado., Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Manchester, New Hampshire

Well, well...

Now I'm going to wonder how many 'happy' marriages I see along the Gold Coast are 'happy' in appearances only.

I'm also going to wonder how many of the women I see around are 'the other woman.'

I wonder how we rank in terms of divorce rates too!

I used to ride the train daily from NYC to NH. Made sure I took the bar car in the afternoon, actually was on the bartenders text list so I knew what trains had them and where he would be that afternoon. It seems I was in "the group" of brokers and money men who got on the same train, a money guy I was not. They would all pile on and we would drink and I would mostly listen but for me it was a social hour with a beer. They would get off at Westport, Fairfield, Greens Farms, jump in their Porsche's or Mercedes and speed either home or to the local neighborhood bar for an extended happy hour. I knew this because they offered for me to join several times.

Along those lines I would hear about their excursions and "conferences" where they would take fishing trips or what not down to the Caribbean with their mistresses or girlfriends and then would nonchalantly talk about their "trophy wives" shopping for this and that while the kids were home with the nanny all day. It really was quite eye opening and somewhat madmen experience to me, meanwhile I would get off the train, picked up by my fiance at the time (now wife), and get a nice home cooked meal. It got to a point where at times I would almost sit and say "am I normal or are these guys just that out there". My conclusion was quick in that they lived some other worldly lifestyle that made no practical sense to me. I'm glad I stopped taking the train after my year of on-site work was done.

Big and easy money ruin moral, nothing new here.
If we were to tax financial speculations and usury properly or ban these socially useless types of business, where would all these people go? Las Vegas, escort services may be?

I'm not surprised. Some families in Fairfield County make Southern California seem tame. That said, there are a lot of very good people who live here.

Is there a certain age group where this becomes "not so uncommon"? In my age group, I don't know anyone (millionaire or not) who does this kind of stuff. The millionaires actually work so much they barely even get alone time for themselves. How does someone manage a high paying job plus a family AND something on the side???

You'd be surprised, especially nowadays with apps like Tinder.
