Hello!

This weekend it's going to be beautiful out finally! Looking forward to a sunny weekend. I want to go to a park (or two) this weekend. Get some exercise in! What are some of your favorite parks for walking/hiking trails in CT? We've been to Sleeping Giant and Wadsworth state park. We live in Middletown. Willing to drive up to 30 mins. I know Sleeping Giant will probably be very busy. Would like one that has good paths, but doesn't get overly crowded if possible.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Check out Devil's Hopyard in East Haddam. Beautiful park with great trails, one of my favorites in the area.

You're definitely limiting yourself by not driving farther than 30 minutes. I was going to recommend Bluff Point in Groton or Huntington in Redding. Haddam's got some good stuff too though.

I like the Airline Trail through Salmon River State Forest. Devil's Hopyard is very nice too.

Penwood and Talcott Mountain in Simsbury are really nice if that's not too far.

Also Topsmead and White Memorial in Litchfield. I know that's out of your range but they are really nice and have historic structures to add to the adventure.

Thanks for the suggestions so far! Well, we're pretty much open to things further too. Ideally closer, at least for tomorrow. Sunday we can go further. I work until 1:30pm on Saturdays, and home a little after 2pm. So, that's why I mentioned 30 mins.

J.B. Williams Park in Glastonbury. Easy on/off access via RT 2. Most of the trail(s) are shaded by trees.

If you want flat easy going trails Hammonasset, Burlingame, and Bluff Point State Park. A challenge Penwood State Park, Devil's Hopyard State Park, and Talcott Mountain State Park.

If you do go to the Hopyard there is this eatery need to check out. Someone familiar might have to help with the name and not sure if open on Sundays or late Saturdays. We were rerouted due to construction by the Bridge by the Opera House. We came out at this T section intersection with this blue house. It was a cat themed eatery. The people were super friendly and the food was phenomenonal best food in the state.
