He thinks government creates jobs with taxpayers money. I don't believe he's ever worked in the public sector in his entire life. The public sector gets paid from taxpayers dollars. Where does this money come from? From the private sector! This isn't about Republican or Democrat, but whether your state wants jobs. At this point, I think he knows the damage has been done and is putting small bandaids on CT so when the next administration comes in, it's their problem.

I agree it is not a D or R issue. I have voted both. I will vote for the most capable candidate every time. There are business/economic savvy Democrats out there. He is a very ineffective governor, period, despite what political leaning he has.

Only downfall I see when new haven is it doesn't have a major airport. Yea Bradley is close and nyc but from experience it's easier to attract if those things are right there. Stamford is a exception because it's so close to nyc and that would be there home airport. Also white planes have pretty decent flight in and out too

So I need to spend an arm and a leg to get an education, or I can't get one? How do other developed countries produce much better students and much less the cost?

Tying education to money spent is pure Socialist propaganda of the NEA. It's all BS. CT is mired in it, and it's working out beautifully!!!

CT does need to cut taxes somewhat but what CT has is much better than anything FL has to offer.
Well, millions of people disagree with that, and decided against such advice. FL just surpassed NY as the 3rd most populous state. Those people moving to FL don't know what they're doing, right?

Have any of you ever seen how creepy Rick Scott is? The way he pops his eyes out without blinking when talking. I can totally picture him as a Nazi SS guard persuading people that they'll be taking a shower instead of being gassed. He has that really eerie vibe.
Governors come and go, so why does it matter if Rick Scott has the crazy eyes or the knobby nose. Besides, Malloy is no simpatico either.

I agree. And there's a ton of local resistance to expand Tweed. Maybe an effective governor would have some balls and make that happen.

Bradley is only 45 minutes, but it's nowhere near as good as NYC.

The issue of expanding airports is not only their land footprint. It's also aerial routes to land and take-off, noises, fumes, etc. So in order to afford noise abatement costs for example, you would need more flights, which would add more complexity.

East Haven is packed like sardines as it is, so I don't see Tweed getting any important upgrades soon. Maybe new bathrooms, or newer facility, but air traffic -- I doubt if it will get much more.

Best school districts in CT below. Guess what they all have in common? They are all the wealthiest towns in CT. Money buys many things and one of them is a better education.

BTW, other countries get good outcomes in education because they are spending more relative to the average salary of that particular country. Why do millions of immigrants want to come to this country every year from poor countries? It is to get their children a better education and thus a better life then the one they had in the country they are coming from.

I live in Trumbull and there was a house across the street from me that was rented out for a time. Quite a few of the renters came from other states. They told me they came here to CT & Fairfield County to get their kids the best education they could afford even if it was a struggle.

Uh, funny, Glastonbury ranks higher than Darien, Wilton and Ridgefield on this, and has less than half the average income and 1/4 of the home prices. So if anything, this proves you DON'T need to spend an arm and a leg to have an excellent education....
