Today Central Park is likely to break and BDR tie the record for the latest in the year that the temperature stayed above 70 the entire day (that is, a low of 70 or above). Central Park's record is yesterday's date in 2005. BDR's is today in 2005 (Central Park had a low of 69 that day), so it's not a shattering. There's an outside chance that it happens tomorrow too as NWS is forecasting a low of 70 for both locations.

Ironically, National Hurricane Center has been tracking it the other way, where the low/center is further north and west of where it was originally forecasted. A few days ago it had the low directly over NYC, now it is forecasted more to be over Albany. This means less rain here and more in places like upstate NY and western Mass.

.

It's funny because Sept 1st-Oct 7th previous 2 yrs were warmer at Bridgeport. Feels like this year would be record breaking but its not. Maybe more humid though?? For Hartford it's the warmest since 2007.

Looks like it would, right? But no, it's actually getting absorbed into the front and now that front is projected to stay WEST of us so the center of Nate would be over interior as 7Wishes said.

Definitely more humid and most of the the low temperatures have been near or at (but not over) "record hi lows" for the date so far in October, but the highs while well above normal, definitely have not been at or near records. Not quite sure why as usually this phenomenon is associated with cloudy and often rainy whether (when you have lower diurnal ranges), which until today/tomorrow was definitely not the case. But I always thought September and October were odd in our region in that unlike the other months, the record highs, etc. are not skewed towards the last 2-4 decades (the best example being the weird trend of 90+ degrees in October in NYC, which while happening several times has not happened since 1941).

And as I said earlier, because you are starting with Sept. 1 in your stats, a lot of why the last 2 years were warmer are that Sept 1-11 were well below normal, almost historically so.

Just randomly looking at data on this rainy Sunday morning...

Is that rain outside with doors and windows open while in shorts and sockless? Yup.

October 2007 was VERY warm.. In fact 10 yrs ago on this date we hit 90°! We had to wait till October 28-29 to get a seasonable 2 day break. Dropped to near freezing on the 29th. November ended up below normal with more cold blasts than heat surges.

October 1990 was VERY warm.. We were in the 70s 13 days in a row Oct 3-15 then couple times more after that. We only got a 2 day seasonal break Oct 19-20, then Oct 26-27. but didn't get multiple Fall like below normal breaks till November. By November 8th we went below normal for few days dropping to near freezing and 20s with the day time staying in the 40s.

I'm hoping this warmth/humidity continues until the end of november! Warm baby warm! Unless it's going to snow, no point in having it cold outside.
