This website is pretty fascinatng.

The year I was born Stamford CT could expect 7 days of 90+ degree weather.
By the time I am 80 Stamford CT could expect 16 (or more) days of 90+ weather.

The cloud cover runs up till mid-Vermont and then it becomes blue sky north of there, but moisture content is low despite clouds. It’s obviously that the moisture and dew and humidity on the other side of the front is so severe that the visible shadow of it costs the sky on the drier cold side of it

These are high altitude clouds and they don’t drop rain. If the front weren’t stalled out over North Carolina and kept on moving south we would get to see the clearing skies. Unfortunately we won’t on this one unless you get on I-91 and drive about 200 miles northbound

I don't want to start a debate on here, but while I do believe in the science per se I don't completely buy that fact from the NY Times.

Weather and climate are a lot more complex than the media makes it. A "greenhouse" atmosphere will likely produce more clouds and precip which counters some of the warming. What is more likely is that the 7 days goes up to an average of say 8-10 days by your big 8-0 but our nighttime lows soar and we have smaller diurnal ranges. The record going back say 30-50 years shows this somewhat already.....daytime highs have gone up, but in a small enough amount that it's not even statistically significant but nighttime lows show a clear rise and increased precipitation is clear as well (including snow.....that actually does make sense unless/until it warms enough that a situation where you would normally get snow is rain instead).

Yes, increased urban heat islands account for some of the rise in nighttime lows, but not all of it (again it is much more complex than the way the media makes it out to the layman, not complete bogus, just not simple).

When was the most recent date in 2018 where Connecticut had
1) A High temperature not higher than 82F with

2) A dewpoint not higher than 60F with

3) A sky “clear of clouds”?

I think we have had 0 of THESE in August and September to date. Zero and counting

I recall one day in August. I was working that day and didn't get to enjoy it. I think a Tuesday?

It wasn’t the worst weather one can ever hope for no, but for the weather you count on as your “good ripe season” you waited through March and April many a chill rainy Brown days counting down for? Lousy lousy lousy finale.

If I get hot humid Miami August I expect it, cheaper vacation packages reflect it, cuz you know when it’s November thru April you’ll get your paradise weather. But when your GOOD season is ruined and there’s nothing to wait for...then it’s not the same

In a typical year September is when the Northeast gets their bragging rights, while Floridians wait out misery till the tides turn after Halloween. Not this year. This year it’s bad news and bad news.

In less than 2 months it will be chilly rainy and barren.

Add an inch of rain to the books again. In a perfect world October and November will be sunny and dry and cool while the wet pattern comes back with the Polar Vortex in winter.

Sorry for lack of posts. Been in Florence's thread and was away this weekend.

Raining here and chilly 50s outside! Almost needed the stove.
