I counted 32 days over 90 from May through September last year at Bradley. Not to mention we had unrelenting tropical humidity from late June well into September. I recall the summer of 2017 being fairly mild. Last year was a sauna.

Looks like 38 days is the all time record.

29 days above 90? Are you sure? That seems high. I remember it being warm but not that oppressive. Maybe Cambium can confirm that. Jay

I revised it. It was 32. I posted links as proof.

Summer is only June-July-August. I'm not counting a spring or fall month where it hits 90.

24 times at BDL (more than I thought actually)
Only 13 at Bridgeport.

Yes, 32 days if you count May and September. More than I thought actually.

It didn't seem that bad and here's why...

Temps for BDL June-July-August last year. The dots are the normal lows/highs. I circled all the 90s.

ONLY 3 HEAT WAVES! 1 was long duration June 29 to July 5th but notice after we hit 90 we would have a break down in the low 80s and even 60s & 70s. That's why summer didn't feel bad. We had cool breaks while humidity stayed high.

IEM :: Monthly Summaries

Look at the low temps in the 50s in July! 10 of them. Wow. Below normal those nights.

Here is Summer 2018 for Bridgeport.

Only 13 days in the 90s. Only 2 Heat Waves! Check out those 70s too. Not bad

June only had 10 days above normal.

Look over towards PA... More coming. Should end tonight and tomorrow should be nice! Sunny and 60s!

1:30-5:30pm loop. Looks sunny and warm in northern New England. Coastal storm coming off Virginia now.

I think it's a flawed approach to narrow it to 3 months but that's a matter of opinion. I don't think our actual weather really conforms to meteorological seasons, no matter the season. To me summer is when it gets warm and fall is when it stops being warm.

BDL's 32 90 degree days were somewhat spread out over 4 months so technically maybe not a lot of heat waves. Also it sounds like Bridgeport had fewer days than Bradley. But it's always cooler by the shoreline.

Thanks. I honestly did not remember that many but I am in AC most of the day. Jay

Agree...32 x days >90 is pretty hot by any standard. I believe that the average for BDL is 19 for the whole year. And yes, it does seem like the seasons are just getting pushed further along in the calendar. I always tell my wife that we can't remove the blankets off our bed until Memorial Day, and that's gonna be true again this year. And it seems like hot, humid days have been occurring into mid-Sept.
