Today I went from Glastonbury to Tolland to Newington in the afternoon, huge line of storms, lights of thunder but I don't think I saw a drop of rain! Crazy

Pretty sure I'm hearing rumbles now but the AC and TV are on, and I don't feel like getting up to look.
That’s what I saw in Glastonbury too. We had thunder all afternoon including some very loud strong claps but no rain. Thought it was extremely odd. Jay

Good. I think storms hold off until after 3pm. Not sure where you're going but you might have to fly around storms in the region (PA, upstate NY, New England) at that time

I'm surprised that Hurricane Bob wasn't mentioned! I know it was a bigger factor for RI and eastern MA. Portland, ME (PWM) got over 8 inches of rain. I do remember that we lost power in New Britain, but the phone service from SNET was still there. They say how long it's been since they had direct impact from a hurricane. The leftovers of 1985's Gloria knocked out our power that Friday evening in Old Orchard Beach (York County). I guess Irene (2011) and Sandy (2012) didn't do too much for them.

And thats why Im glad Im not a meteorologist. The hate mail would be so annoying. Lol.

Its not hard to look at a radar loop and figure out whats gonna happen next 1-2hrs. In summer theres no way of knowing 6-12hrs before when storms will pop up. Just the way mother nature is.

11:45am, here it comes.

August 21, 2019 10am-2pm Loop with Dew Points. Humid out there! Temps in low 80s thankfully.

Orange outline at the end is Thunderstorm Watches in effect. Hartford getting hit now with a storm.

Watch the one heading towards Danbury weaken before.

Getting a t-storm now by the McDonald's on New Britain Road in Berlin. Rain is heavier now. Decent bolt a few minutes ago. Just barely west of the building.

Thundercell developing explosively over southern New Canaan / northern Norwalk. Just reached thundering potential, looks like it's dropping on @Cambium's head

edit - looks like the thunder stopped as soon as I said that. Extremely impressive view of the cloud though. Wow. There's a thunderstorm to the south now producing copious thunder

Missing me to the south. Merritt Parkway in Trumbull getting slammed with heavy rain.
Waterbury getting a downpour but nothing severe.

Look at that line approaching MA

Little pop up downpours everywhere
