Are we going to wait for a 6 month black out like puerto rico before we finally learn to put most of our utilities underground? A heavily treed state needs lines underground, not running down every street above ground

11:30am 36hrs later. 52,000 still without power. Down from 131,000 22hrs ago.

Most of them in New London county. Crazy.

Makes me think utility companies just dont have enough man power. Has there been help from other states again?

Worth it to note that MA and VT have power outages too.

If it wasnt for the 3-5" of rain, I doubt 40-60mph would of done this.

I am in New London County/border Middlesex County.

I saw 3 trucks last night from Par Electric, which is out of MA.

I just got a text from Eversource and said my power should be back on by Thursday at noon.

It's because the leaves are still on the trees. RI lost more power from this storm than hurricane sandy. About 30 percent of entire state lost power.

In the northeastern MA towns of Amesbury, Salisbury, and Newburyport, the power has just come back on for some people and for others, no one knows. No one is telling them anything. It's cold, they can't cook, restaurants are closed due to no power, Halloween was cancelled, school has been off for two days now. And they think maybe the repair companies are down in Puerto Rico or something. That's the only way they can explain the fact that there is no word of what has happened or when it will be fixed. No sign of a truck in most place--nothing. Warming shelters have been opened but many people have gone inland to stay in motels. Coastal New England storm.

Dont know what to say.

Guess we'll have to hype and sound concerned for each storm from now on? What I dont get is we had storms that size with those winds and nothing bad happened around...even with leaves on trees!

Had to have been the rain...OR....OR... The path it took up NY state made New England be on the worst side of it. How many storms took that path??

But again... we've had winds that strong before and these amount of power outages didnt happen.

Thought I take a different approach for this one. So... when is our next blizzard coming?

It's not even cold out right now - and you know how much I hate cold! Warming shelters? Paying for a motel? Mind-blown!

BTW, still no power where I am in Hebron.

Check out this Accuweather long term. Look how cold late December is.

Here is January: https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/da...018&view=table

If these were right, yikes....cold cold winter.

Take solace though this will change a million times. Ignore the actual weather that is never going to be right. But I have noticed the temps while not necessarily accurate do have a semblance of strong POSSIBILITIES.

LALALALALALALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!!!! My body is still thinking October 2017 was May or June.

I just couldn't believe how freaked out some are about no power and "cold" right now. It's not that cold!

Got power back about an hour ago. Mels I hope you're next!

6:30am: Danbury 31° Waterbury, Meriden, Willimantic 32°. Bridgeport one of the warmest stations around. I'm at 38°

Check out the radar this morning. Snow falling in Ohio and Indiana after falling in Nebraska and Kansas yesterday. Almost freezing in the Philly suburbs
