Hello everyone,

I'm a new resident at Westport.

I need some bamboo trees for backyard project for my kids. Any idea where I can find some wild ones, like a bamboo forest somewhere? I noticed there are people growing it near green farms road. I'm looking for wild and public access ones so I can cut a few.

Thanks in advance!
Tony

Not Fairfield County, but on Laurel St., in East Haven, there is a fair-sized group of bamboo growing. I have enjoyed seeing them for several years - just saw in town newspaper that there were complaints about "running bamboo" to Zoning Dept. and it might have to be removed. I will try to get exact address if you are interested, it is near Exit 51 off I-95.

Careful. That stuff is highly invasive and can spread more than you’d like.

With Bamboo you don't need any abilities. Just sit back and let the bamboo do its thing, which is take over your property, and maybe your neighbor's, if you aren't careful.

Bamboo has growing restrictions I think and I would stay far away from it. You can check out this article

Ditto. I wouldn't go near that stuff no matter how much land I had.
