I've been back in NB for 4 years and haven't been in the joint. Best sandwiches are at Angelo's Market, but it's way up on West Main through downtown, so if you only get 30 minutes, you can't do it. Except for the 4 Polish restaurants, and two major pizza joints that probably don't serve the kind of pizza you get down your way, and East Side, the pricey German place, There isn't really much left in New Britain for restaurants. A spattering of Chinese, Spanish, Latino places around, but any of the mid level chains are up by Westfarms Mall, on the Berlin Turnpike, or up in Plainville. Oh, there is Angelico's, which I think is across the street from the Dodge dealer. Not even sure if they are open every day, but prime rib Friday night. Popular for post funeral catering....really...
I think there are a lot of good places to eat lunch in New Britain. Certainly as much, if not more than most places. It all depends what you want. Capitol Lunch, Angelico's and the East Side are all good. There is also the Miss Washington Diner downtown where I have had some good lunches and my wife loves the Great Taste Chinese on West Main. Also on West Main is Cracovia which is a good small Polish place. If you like wings, J. Timothy's in Plainville is not far from New Britain and Portifino's and the Baltic are just over the line in Kennsington right near Schaller. Also just over the line are the tons of restaurants in and around Westfarms Mall. And of course there are the usual places like Subway, McDonald's, Popeye's, etc. Not saying they are great but they are there. Jay

Sure Jay, but these little places are so scattered, gotta plan to brown bag your lunch especially if you only get a 30 minute lunch like most people. I like Cracovia's new location....you can find place to park. Don't see the attraction to Capital Lunch, a fried hot dog. Broad Street and downtown, parking issues. Paradise Pizza isn't too far from Schaller. Not really the town I grew up in anymore.

All I have to do is accept it......I have to give a yes or no today.......It should be a no brainer due to my horrible commute. The offer is less then my current salary but that is because CT dealers are not as high volume as my current area. But the offer is still more than enough for us to live on. Just have to take a leap of faith here......I suck at these decisions as I tend to overthink.

It is a hard decision. If I remember correctly you have been at this employer for a long time. The last time you considered leaving they gave you a really good offer to stay which you did. I can understand your hesitation. Good luck with this decision. Jay

To me, it sounds as if this would be a good move for you. I know people who have worked for Schaller's for many, many years, so they must be treated right. Of course, in your line of work, people jump dealers all the time. I know several who seem to jump dealerships every couple of years or so.

Living in this area is definitely lower stress - that's why we're here! Less traffic, less aggravation, cheaper real estate prices. And you still have everything you need, except the convenience of hopping on the commuter train into NYC. That's the only thing I regret about our choice of this area.

.
The ones I met so far were extremely nice......welcome change from the area I am in currently. I try to stay at places long but I do know that people jump dealers a lot......usually about money.
