Hello everybody,

My wife and I are moving to CT because I will be working in Groton and my wife in New Haven. We are looking to rent and were thinking of renting a house somewhere between the two. Possibly Old Lyme, Clinton, Old Saybrook, something in that area.

The problem is this: I don't know where to find info on houses for rent. I find a lot of listings online that are confusing. Some might be weekly rentals (possibly summer vacation spots), some just look too good to be true, and some just look awful.

Does anyone know of a good resource for finding a decent rental home?
Any realtors want to help us out here?

The towns you are interested in are pretty small and would have few rentals. You might try the local newspaper in New London and craigslist.com. Also try local realtors. Good luck, Jay

Homes for rent will likely appear in New London, Groton, Norwich and to a lesser degree Waterford and Stonington. Check out the New London Day and Norwich Bulletin for rentals, as well as what Jay said Craigslist and local realtor's in south eastern CT.

My problem is that my wife will probably be working in New Haven (Branford actually). If we live to close to Groton, she will have a bad commute. If we are in the middle, we will both have reasonable commutes. I have looked on a map and there isn't much between the two except the small shoreline towns.
I guess its just going to be a little more work to find a place than I expected.

Thanks for the help.

Well I can understand your desire to be someplace in between Groton and Branford-
The towns to the east of Branford, Guilford, Madison, Clinton Westbrook and Saybrook are the most convenient- but the number of homes for rent are likely to be limited- again the best thing to do is talk to a Realtor.
