A lot of the smaller towns in the NW corner are/stayed R, but New Milford flipped from D to R, and Woodbury kept their incumbent, who is unaffiliated.

that's how you win,,split the vote.

Looks like Derby got rid of their do-nothing D mayor and elected a pro-economic development R mayor. Let’s hope he can end the stagnancy of that city.

As expected, Democrats swept in my town. Can't wait to see how much more our property taxes climb, even as our quality of life remains stagnant. It used to be that D's outnumbered R's by 2 to 1 when I first moved to town, now it's 3 to 1, and that won't be changing anytime soon. The problem is, people here have this misconception that if there's an R after your name that you align yourself with the far-right and your views never deviate from that faction. Big mistake. This is the Northeast. Moderate politicians do exist here, even Republicans.

Erin Stewart, the moderate Republican Mayor of New Britain, won a third term. I always liked her. She is young and could have a long political future. Jay

Thats precisely why there is the divide.. because so many democrats are degrading and downright nasty to anyone who is a republican. I say this as an independent..

Anyway, agree w/kidyankee that this is democrats/media's way of pushing the "See? Everyone hates trump" agenda, when really, this happens with every election.

I knew it would happen too. The independent actually got almost 15% of the vote in Trumbull.

Here is site that goes into depth on the results for the entire state. Now that I see this site I see lots of Trumbull races were very close so it was not a Democratic blowout.

She's definitely on the level, and she's done some good for NB, though I'm disappointed that she raised property taxes since her tenure began. In a city whose residents were already some of the most beleaguered taxpayers in the state, they're now saddling even higher costs. Which I think is unfair. But still, the city appears to be on a bit of an upswing, crime is decreasing, and private investors are starting to reinvest in that city. Probably the most encouraging sign is an abandoned brass millworks factory that was purchased by Sterling Equities (the folks who own the New York Mets), and being converted into loft apartments. Nice to see this happening here.
