So basically they polled people who live in Newtown, Cheshire, and on the shore east of New Haven?

Puerto Vallarta? Really??

I originally posted about Rebekah in East Lyme not realizing it was for new restaurant... erased that part of it

a pretty good place, but I tend to like Khagan Mongolian Grill in Simsbury, Liki Sushi in Avon or Market Place in Avon for new restaurants better.

These lists are truly bizarre.

How do you end up with only 2 entries for best overall restaurant in a supposedly well-attended poll?

And not to belabor specifics because we'd be here all day, but Arethusa shows up on the Ice Cream list, but not Fine Dining? There are people who think Sal e Pepe is better than Arethusa al tavolo, who have eaten at both? I don't buy it.

Polls like this are often heavily weighted toward places that have good get-out-the-vote social media campaigns. It says they also have 'food experts' in the mix, but if you don't do this sort of thing properly, you're always going to get weird results.

As hvexpatinct said, it seems weirdly tilted toward Newtown and Cheshire in many categories when neither are known for cuisine. Smells super fishy to me (and it's not seafood).

This list linked from there seems to be the actual experts picks, vs the readers poll - seems more reasonable to me:

This list seems a lot more real and comprehensive. Many of my favorites are on it. One place on it though I do not agree with is Katz Deli in Woodbridge. They serve processed deli corned beef and pastrami. These are staples for any good deli and should be fresh made. We were so disappointed. Jay

Lots of deserving places didn't make it. A lot of this comes down to restaurants' PR budget and activity on social.

Having moved here recently, I want more lists! All I can find is pizza.

I'll try that Butchers & Bakers in Farmington because it says it has fish and chips. So, thanks for that list of new places.
