There’s not much distance at all (as the crow flies) separating the 2 towns. ??
Yeah, probably elevation related but your friend would have to be below 300 feet to really make the difference. Connecticut is awesome for that aspect, just short distances and there's different results.

maybe it was the winds off the Lake? If its unfrozen than it could of carried slightly warmer air to your friends location.

Or you could just be where the heavier burst was. Maybe a pocket of colder air helped your spot stick easier

Seems like a doozy of a storm! Almost sad I'm not there to see it.

Farmington Valley--Light snow all morning, now more like rain. Rain has washed the light snow off the cars and the ground. It has gotten really dark though. It's raw and cold. Maybe it will turn to snow later on?

I was listening to a radio host out of NYC who was saying it was snowing hard at around 12. I went in the store quick and came out to a pretty heavy snowfall rate around 1230 in Wallingford. It's been steady and wet and sticking to the ground which is again coated. Roads not yet but I'm sure they will be soon. Got home just in time it seems.

Rain has turned to fairly heavy snow in the Farmington Valley, falling diagonally. Getting more fast and furious as I type. YIKES!
