Fixtures

Note: Fairfield will automatically advance to Round 2 as the winner in the last tournament.

Old Saybrook vs Middlefield

Salem vs Monroe

Cheshire vs Sprague

New Hartford vs Oxford

East Hartford vs New Haven

Canton vs Franklin

Brookfield vs Windsor Locks

Essex vs Andover

Chaplin vs Woodbridge

Cornwall vs Cromwell: LOL

Brooklyn vs Wallingford

Bozrah vs Southbury

North Stonington vs Old Lyme: Very Tough

Windham vs Newtown

Seymour vs Goshen

Darien vs Willington: Darien is probably the favorite, but I like the town of Willington, and I prefer the somewhat rural town to the ritzy upscale suburb of NYC.

Columbia vs Plainville

Burlington vs Middlebury

Colchester vs Enfield

North Branford vs Stonington

Litchfield vs Haddam

Montville vs Sherman

Westport vs Bristol

Winchester vs Norwalk:

Lyme vs Bridgewater

East Hampton vs Prospect

Glastonbury vs Bethlehem

Bloomfield vs Portland

New Milford vs Berlin

Danbury vs Vernon

Greenwich vs Bridgeport: Many of you will likely be surprised by this decision, but I am not a big fan of Greenwich at all. I feel like Greenwich and Darien are towns with some of the most rude and arrogant people you will find. Very ritzy people who look down on the middle class and poor. Parts of Bridgeport are a dump, but there are a few good areas like Black Rock.

Rocky Hill vs Windsor

Hamden vs Farmington

Trumbull vs West Haven

Suffield vs Pomfret

West Hartford vs Clinton: Also very tough. I'd take the coastal town over the Hartford suburb by a slim margin.

Union vs Roxbury

Madison vs Ashford

Groton vs Torrington

Plainfield vs Wethersfield: Tough as well.

Weston vs Plymouth

Norfolk vs Westbrook

Canaan vs Norwich

Marlborough vs Hartland: Another very tough fixture. Marlborough is an amazing rural town with many woods, but Hartland also has a great forest. However I will have to go with Marlborough because of its location, and also because I feel it is a little more upscale rural town.

Hampton vs Newington

New Fairfield vs Eastford

Harwinton vs Waterbury: Neither

South Windsor vs Hebron

Branford vs Waterford

Lisbon vs Chester

Scotland vs Putnam: Another tough one for me. I love the Quiet Corner in general, but Putnam is working class while Scotland is a really nice country town.

East Granby vs Guilford

Shelton vs Colebrook

Durham vs Stamford

Sterling vs Stratford

New London vs Lebanon

Tolland vs New Canaan

Salisbury vs Ellington

Granby vs Derby

Thompson vs Easton

Barkhamsted vs Voluntown

Mansfield vs Avon

Bolton vs Wolcott

Bethany vs Southington

Ridgefield vs Somers

Griswold vs Naugatuck

Sharon vs East Lyme

North Haven vs Coventry

Stafford vs Simsbury

Washington vs Deep River

Wilton vs Ledyard

Bethel vs East Windsor

Meriden vs Kent: LOL this is actually a repeat fixture from Round 1 in the 2016 Tournament!

Hartford vs Watertown

Beacon Falls vs Thomaston

East Haven vs Milford

Woodstock vs Redding

Orange vs Morris

Middletown vs North Canaan

Warren vs Preston

Killingly vs New Britain

Killingworth vs Manchester: Another very tough one.

Woodbury vs Ansonia: Neither really.

Canterbury vs East Haddam: Pretty close.

Yeah, I think I would have put New Haven and Stamford together. Though these are apparently not about like vs like towns - I missed the other contests.

They are not necessarily meant to be like vs like. Even if we started that way, sooner later we would have to make unfair comparisons because one town needs to win eventually.

Also these fixtures were not my choices, I did a random draw to see who faces who. I did not choose any of them.

Ahh I see. Yeah New Canaan as well. Westport I feel to a little lesser extent. I feel you'll find on average friendlier people but to some extent Westport will still have that feeling.

How did you decide the pairings ? Was it random ? Some of the pairings seem odd to me such as Killingly vs New Britain. They don't have anything in common, but New Britain vs Meriden would make a lot more sense.

The pairings were random. I did a random draw for every town, and came up with those pairings after. I did not choose any of them.
