The global interconnections get stronger all the time but we’ve had tree blights a long time already— American chestnut wiped out about 100 years ago, American Elm attacked by Dutch elm disease beginning in the 1930s and wooly adelgid killing the hemlocks in lower NY, Conn and Mass since the ‘80s. Awhile back there was Asian long horned beetle and now oak wilt. That’s just in this part of the world— I think the California oaks have trouble and the lodge pole pines in the mountain states. But the emerald ash borer is killing off the ashes very fast. It is sad!

Aww man that sucks. Does look like a nice shaped shade tree. At least you don't have to season it.

Plant a Cherry or Oak in its place then in 20 yrs you can take it down for firewood too.

Looks like there may be some hope in restoring the ash trees. Some seem to have defense to them.
