Also, anything that thins the talent pool is good for the whole region. SW CT can absolutely have *some* benefit from this, despite the naysayers.

That's my take. There will be a lot of relocating 5%ers who need the leafy suburb with the top school system picking between LonGisland, Westchester, North Jersey, and lower Fairfield County. Some of those will pull the Connecticut lever for various reasons. There will also be a bunch of job postings that are commutable from lower Fairfield if you're already based there.

Exactly. This is a net positive thing if it happens. The naysayers here will never admit it. I did not expect LI City (my money was on DC area, which also won) but I thought it was a GREAT option when I heard it was in the running. Untapped real estate, relatively cheap, massive talent pool, and excellent access to midtown and airports. If I had the means, I’d be buying real estate there!

Tiny Ct trickle at most. Unless Metro North, at some point, adds direct Tri-State access somehow.

The underlined I fully agree with.

Put me as a vote for a small CT bump. It is within commuting range but more importantly it should cause a bump in NYC area tech sector which should be a plus for FFC.

CT might even get direct one-seat rides to LIC in a few years.

Maybe. But really, the only leafy suburbs that will benefit are Greenwich, Stamford, Darien and maybe Norwalk/New Canaan. Not too big of a deal.

How about extending the Oyster Bay or Port Washington branch of the LIRR and build a tunnel to Rye or Stamford on Metro North?
