Hi - does anyone know if the drive from Bridgeport hospital to I95 in the evening is safe? New to the area, not sure if after dark this is ok for me to travel alone by car after visiting a relative. Thank you!

I would use Route 8/25 to Exit 5 - Boston Avenue/Route 1 and follow it to the hospital. Route 1 is safe but some of the streets between the hospital and I-95 are rough. Jay

Thank you JayCT - I saw the Route 8/25 option on the map but 95 looked more direct. If 8/25 is the preferred option, I will take it. Appreciate your reply!

I personally wouldn’t worry about it in a car.

I am not sure that someone who is not urban savy would agree. Driving up Seaview Avenue and other East Side streets from I-95 can be a little scary to someone not familiar with the neighborhood. That is why I suggested taking Boston Avenue/Route 1 from Route 8/25 instead of going directly off I-95. It is much more comfortable to a suburbanite. JMHO, Jay

Just a heads-up if you take I-95: For whatever reason, a few people will fly through Seaview going west or east on Crescent Ave without stopping. To make matters worse, the visibility is bad, so you have to be extremely aware of everyone around you, but this goes for any urban area. I've seen close calls at that intersection.

Have you ever driven through a sketchy area? Even if you're using GPS, know the route before you get there. Look at Google street views and visually identify a landmark at your turns. Don't allow yourself to get boxed in between cars. At a stop light, leave enough space between your car and the one ahead so that you can drive away if necessary. If the driver ahead of you slams on the brakes causing you to hit them, or if you're rear-ended, don't get out of the car to exchange insurance information. Instead, either go to the police station or continue to the hospital and call them when you get there. If you feel that you're being set up, you probably are. Be prepared to misbehave and color outside of the lines. There's a 99.9 and 3/4% probability that nothing bad is going to happen, but better safe than sorry.

That’s not even close to conservative enough.

You have a better chance being killed on the drive there.

Holy paranoia.
