You have no idea the fun that's in store as the seals migrate south in greater numbers, and don't leave after the winter. You will see their predators, such as whales and sharks. Shoreline residents and day trippers will be disappointed when they can't go into the water for a dip due to shark activity. And I don't know how much fishing there is in the Sound, but you can kiss it goodbye, because the seals consume enormous amounts of fish.

And just wait until you have to share a strip of beach with them. Just don't get downwind.

They're cute, until they're not. Kind of like the deer. You all remember the deer infestation, right?

Don't get me wrong, I like seals, from a distance. Got a couple of friends on the Cape who have plenty to say about the seal population up there, none of it good.

This might become more common now, because of the seals. The real fun starts when you get more shark sightings.

Thanks for that, Brian. So weird to think of seals, whales and sharks with a much larger presence in Long Island Sound these days. I don't know what the statistics are, but it just seems like to me that great whites are more numerous off the Altantic Coast now than they used to be in the 1980s, 1990s and even 2000s. Of course, they're going to go where the food is, and seals are good eatin' for them.
