Our cub scout troop was on the show with the real Ranger Andy, not the lame guy after Andy retired.
He played the banjo and was really nice to us.
Any other Boomers get on the show?

Orville Andrews (1904 - 1968) - Find A Grave Memorial

Andy sang songs like "I read it in the Bible, so It Must Be True". That would never fly these days...

I was very young, 5 years old, maybe 1968. I don't remember much about it. I do remember watching Captian Kangroo, Hap Richards and Ranger Andy.

Default Ranger Andy

omg...these posts made me laugh.
You are right - the "bible" song would NEVER fly these days.
Ranger Andy was (is) my grandfather. I have very fond memories of going on his show...but mostly remember all the hostess twinkles he'd bring home! (they were a sponsor).
My first job out of college was at CNN - I was looking to share an apt. in Atlanta with a co-worker. Imagine my surprise when she showed me her bedroom and there on her dresser was a framed picture of Ranger Andy. I asked how she knew the show and she said "oh, it was THE place to go when I was a kid" and then asked how I knew about it : )
Unfortunately, we have no footage from any of the shows - film was expensive so they just taped over it...again and again. Too bad - would make a great retro show for Nickelodeon!
Thanks again for remembering him.
Alex Andrews

Bob Mcallister.....I was a little kid for Bob. Wonderama filmed one of their shows at the County Center in White Plains in the 70's and Bob walked around the families and chose kids to be on air. He asked me to tell a joke into the microphone and I did and then he chose me. I still remember the lame joke too. He also gave me an Action Jackson action figure too, I still have a picture that my Mom took when he was asking me to tell the joke.......it was like it was yesterday........
