Somebody has to. It's a requirement of our justice system. Lawyers are required to mount a vigorous defense. The government cannot deprive you of your life, liberty, or property until they've established your clear legal guilt. And in order to do that, the defense has to present the other side, poke holes in vulnerable parts of the prosecution's case by presenting other possibilities. Then it's up to the jurors to decide the issue beyond a reasonable doubt.

You think our justice system stinks now? If defense lawyers weren't required to present defenses, we might as well just skip trials. Just let the government round up whomever they wish to pin the crime on and lock then away.

...and that somebody, I think, is a dirtbag. I said nothing about our justice system or defense lawyers in general. Let’s get back to the topic of the Dulos case now, yeah?

That's good news! I see she's still maintaining her innocence.

This case, that case, the other case, any case, any profession. Any American citizen is free to earn a very prosperous living based on their talents. A dirtbag is someone who is lazy, chooses not to work, and commits crimes.
This individual is probably not trained to be a doctor, not good at singing or acting, not good enough for the NFL, wants to earn more than McJobs, so he does what he does best - being a successful attorney.

Actually, the very definition of a dirtbag is a contemptible person, not a lazy criminal. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dirtbag

I’d say he fits that definition well.

Both he and his girlfriend are despicable. To do this to the mother of his own children and by now her body wherever it is will be totally decomposed now. One day they will read about all of this and have to find out what a horrible person their father was. So sad.
