Hope this isn't off topic and apologies if it is. Not to make this a Connecticut is bad post. Just pointing out area's Connecticut could improve upon.

With student debt one large issue I see is the cost of higher education in Connecticut. One reason why the Wife and I are considering a move out of State is we want to go back to College. College here is very expensive. Tuition reimbursement's do make a dent but still very costly.m

Where we are considering to move higher education is 60% less for both two and four year college's. With the State doing away with a lot of trade programs individuals are left with for profit and private schools.to learn trades and the difference is huge 90% less expensive because it is obtained through a public university.

Also many out of State tuition at various higher education facilities is less expensive than in state tuition at a Connecticut facility.

I am not sure what Connecticut can do. I know for awhile they talked about closing some community colleges due to cost related issues but are talking about raising the cost again I hear.

They need to lower both the two and four year public higher education facilities tuition by 40 to 50 percent.

Other thing is bringing back more tech programs, more higher education programs, more flexibility with programs (Various ways to be accepted; evening programs; rolling admissions).

You have mentioned this before and as was noted before, while the costs are lower in other states so are the wages you will earn if you still plan to work while going to school. Be careful when considering it. Also know that from what I have seen with students I know going to schools in lower cost states, it takes them an additional year (five verses four) to get their degree. One parent noted to me that they saved little to nothing by having their child go to a lower cost school because of that and fees they were charged. Jay

I'm not finding this to be the case in our search. Do you have any examples?
In state CT state schools live at home is fairly inexpensive and line with many other states.
For example Arisona State - out of state $40,000+/year. Uconn out of state is $35,000. SCSU out of state $22,000.
Among others.

^^^ That is the catch 22 tuition is lower but boarding will equal the same or come out to be more.

If your a first time student Connecticut isn't a terrible option with regards to tuition cost. Cost is still on the high side and would be better financially I believe for a first time college student to obtain their associates degree that would lead to a trade or license that Student. Then seek a higher degree afterwards.

However, if a second degree student wanting to go back my own opinion I think a student would be better off if they can moving to a different State with lower in State tuition. The other option being an online program out of State could also be less expensive as well.

No, I understand. I'm just not finding out of state tuition at an out of state school being less expensive than in-state tuition at a CT school (for a CT resident obviously).
Apples to apples, yes CT in-state for CT residents may be a little higher than in-state for a resident in another state.
Hopefully this was clear as mud.
