Some reports from CT. I see a bunch in NJ and Long island.

North Branford: WIRES DOWN CLOSED ROUTE 80 IN BOTH DIRECTIONS AT SUNSET ROAD.

Trumbull: TREE DOWN ON CARS

Cheshire: TREES AND WIRES DOWN ACROSS THE TOWN.

Colchester: POLES AND WIRES DOWN ON ROUTE 16 NEAR KATO CENTER ROAD. ROAD IS CLOSED.

So far my max is still 40mph. But I got some twigs and debris around. Neighbors 100 foot Tulip tree is shedding.

82 mph gust in New Jersey around noon. This storm is not over yet, lots saying the forecast was a bust but I would wait until 4-5PM to really make any decisions about that

Whose saying this was a bust, we have some good gusts and loads of rain in Wallingford. I'm not seeing 60+ yet but the way it's building I don't think it's over.

OKX AFD hot off the press. Confirms forecast on track, LLJ winds approaching from south of Long Island. It's coming (and also thunderstorm cells are STILL not off the cards!)

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service New York NY
127 PM EDT Mon Apr 13 2020

Quote:
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 8 PM THIS EVENING/...
High impact storm continues with strong S winds, heavy rainfall,
possible severe tstms late from NYC west.

Expanded high wind warning to entire CWA with reports of 60+ mph
winds in the Hudson Valley earlier. Summary LSR just
issued detailing wind and damage reports area-wide.

Precip has become more showery in nature compared to earlier,
with a warm front just to the south and west where
temps/dewpoints are now in the 60s. Radars show LLJ core
approaching, with winds 85-90 kt at FL020 over the ocean just S
of Long Island, with buoy 44025 30 nm south of Islip having just
gusted to 76 mph. So....strongest winds for NYC, Long Island, S
CT should arrive next 2-3 hours, with peak gusts 60-80 mph
expected as the LLJ continues to strengthen, to as high as 100
kt at 900 mb across Long Island mid to late afternoon.

Bands of tstms in the warm sector to the west (where a tornado
watch is in effect) could reach areas from NYC metro west after
4 PM. SPC has expanded slight risk area to NYC doorstep. Given
MLCAPE 500-1000 J/kg and strong, veering low level wind
profiles, embedded supercells in these bands could produce
damaging winds and possibly a tornado.

Expect max temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60s across
Long Island and southern CT, and well into the 60s across NE NJ
and the lower Hudson Valley.

I don't remember a day with constant high wind for 8 hours, plus high gusts, that wasn't a hurricane. There have, of course, been storms with high wind, but those usually roll through pretty quickly. This is all day...

3:40pm. Pretty much 45-60mph gusts happening out there. My max is still 40mph!.
Winds are from the south. Should be tapering off soon now.

Nantucket 61mph Gusts
Worcester 56mph
New Haven 53mph (less than 2 mile visibility)
Boston 50mph
Islip 49 mph
Bridgeport 49mph

Temps in the 50s and 60s across the area and dews in the 50s.

That highlighted outline is for severe storm chance. Tornado warning in Delaware. Severe Thunderstorms in NJ

I don’t think we even hit 40 here - wind advisory plus flood warnings would have sufficed. Thankfully - the system underperformed in our neck of the woods. Not so for the Deep South - a long road ahead from the tornado outbreak

Yeah, thank god! Let's get some sunny days now before summer humidity hits!

Looking at the radar I see a quick batch about to hit me. These waves will have winds with them but we're pretty much done now

Hey Camb, what's your rain gauge reading? I don't run my gauge anymore since I'm not here most of the year, but right now it looks like there's over 3" in it. Went to take a look at the stream and went

Highest level I've seen it in at least two years. Ridiculous amount of water flowing through it, even the driveway culvert has water flowing through it. First time I've seen that in use in about 4 years? Crazy

Edit - wow, talk about a post at the same time. Lol
