Beautiful scene in downtown Hartford this morning! Brilliant sunshine, ice clinging to the trees (but luckily not catastrophically). Sidewalks and the elevated pedestrian walkway around here seem to all be cleared and treated. All roads, except for the busiest main roads, looked pretty slippery still this morning in the 7 o'clock hour.

Left Middletown this morning...

CT Route 217 north > CT Route 372 West > I-91 North > CT Route 9 North > CT Route 71 North into New Britain.

Those roads were all wet but clear. All was good, except for my friend's windshield nearly getting broken on the passenger side (me) on CT Route 9 in Berlin. Yep! Another f-----g idiot who didn't clear the ice off the top of his SUV. The ice hit it with a loud bang. I cleaned my friend's vehicle off this morning. He won't leave the parking lot until he inspects and sees that every last piece is gone up there.

Saw a flurry here in Berlin (Kensington section) in the last half hour. Just watching the clouds build for the eventual snow shower or squall coming with the arctic cold front. Joy!

Just issued for NYC area and Southern CT. Snow Squall Warning. Whiteout conditions possible.
Will drop 1-2" easily if under a heavy part of it.

Berlin is now getting clipped with the eastern edge of a potent squall line (Kensington section near the New Britain line).

That could of been very very bad... Ice on trees still, then you have an Arctic front WITH WIND AND SNOW. Snow sticks to the ice, weighs it down more, and wind blows and devastates us. I heard some limbs breaking off during the squall and had flashbacks to October 2011.

Here's the loop. I see only SWCT got in on it. Light elsewhere.

Few minutes before the squall... Got dark. Dropped 0.2" of snow and melted to 0.01" liquid. That's 20:1 ratios. Arctic fluff stuff.
