Cambium, please make it rain soon? Plants are coming up and they need a drink of water. I don't want to get the hose out yet because it might freeze again.

I saw bugs too. Too soon!
Pretty soon we'll have the mosquito Triple E scare on top of every other fear mongering happening.

Rain coming tomorrow but light. Get the hose out. Wont freeze this week

SWEET DEAL!

64 at last check, so still a good deal above normal today, too! It looked like a weak front came through earlier. The wind picked up a bit and clouded up. I only saw a drop or two, however.

I will likely be jinxing it, but have we ever had a snow-free March? 1997's was fairly quiet. Then the 31st happened.

(Using the "NOW Data" site Cambium rightfully toots a lot):

In CT (at least at the major "official" stations of Bridgeport and Hartford (Bradley Airport):

At BDR: Records go back to 1948. There were 7 Marches with no measurable, just a trace: 1954, 1973, 1979, 1983, 1986, 1995, and 2012. It shows March 2004 as "Missing", however, Central Park shows 4.8" for March, 2004 and BDL shows 7.0" for that month so I doubt BDR had just a trace or no snow at all. So at least in their period of record (see below) they have never had a completely "snowless March"

At BDL: Records go back to 1905. March, 1995 had no snow at all. There were also 6 Marches with just a trace: 1921, 1930, 1953, 1954, 1979, and 2010. For some reason (I have read this elsewhere), most snowfall data for BDL is missing from April, 1996 to November 2003, though March of 2000 and 2001 (both with 13.5" for the month) is there. Unfortunately, because of this, we can't tell if they were headed for a truly snowless March in 1997 until the big March 31/April 1 blizzard happened (like NYC, BDR only got a T that night but shows 3.8" for the rest of the month....although they got 4.0" on April 1....NYC had 1.7" during March, 1997)

In NYC (Central Park) with their 150 year record, there are 4 Marches with no snow at all. They have had a trace in March a bit more often (15 years) and you are asking about it in Connecticut so I will only note the 4 completely snowless ones. I mostly note it because 3 of them are before Hartford even started recording weather so it's possible those years would've been snowless in March in either Bridgeport or Hartford or both had they recorded weather then:

1878, 1894, 1903, then not again until 2012. March 1995 (the completely snowless one in Hartford) was one of NYC's March traces.
