NWS NY

The next challenge will be the second phase of the storm on
Monday as the upper low reaches the coast and a secondary
coastal low forms just off the central NJ coast. There is a
clear signal by much of the guidance for mid level deformation
and frontogenesis to the NW of the low, which in turn produces a
heavy band of precipitation on the backside of the low.
Consensus for this heavier precipitation in west of the NYC/NJ
metro area and across western portions of the Lower Hudson
Valley. That being said, there are differences between the hires
and global models in the placement of this axis. Should this
band pivot just a little farther east, higher snowfall totals
could be achieved from NYC west. Thus, the winter weather
advisory has been extended east into NYC and northern Nassau
county on western Long Island

Should travel by train still be ok on the coast Monday early evening hours?

Side roads in Hartford proper are messy and slippery but they are still actively clearing snow. Looks like a sloppy several inches here.

Good to see schools in session on the shoreline. I’ve guided my kids to no after school activities (maybe). I also noticed most of the latest model runs showing 0-2” total from ‘both’ systems for most of the state (north of Hartford and NW Litchfield are the outliers).

Not much time to update...Back to work...

Current temps and Radar. 40s on Long Island below freezing north of Merritt or 84. Snow starting to rotate around now so once the Upper Low moves east more and the coastal storm forms we'll see where the heavy bands are setting up. Complex!

Plane took off from HPN around 7:10, was a rough take off while in clouds, just popped out of them a minute ago, looks nice and peaceful from up here.
