There is a right way to reopen. It involves wide-spread testing of some sort (even if a lot of it is simple temperature screens), tracing contacts of infected individuals, and quarantining those who are positive. This could have been the initial response to the virus, ala South Korea, but we in the US responded too late. The strategy can only be implemented when the number of cases is low enough.

Doing the above is hard, but not impossible. Unfortunately, as long as interstate travel is permitted, it has to be done nation wide, and I don't see any sign that the Feds are moving on this.
Ditto

I don't think laying back on social distancing will work either because I feel a majority of people won't comply once certain restrictions are lifted
Don't want to be fear mongering. We are at a war with attrition in hard hit areas. Go back on social distancing we lose that war.

There was a chart showing peak for each of our counties, and Hartford was mid-May. I've seen it posted in multiple places in the past week (and I can't put my hands on it right now)

I-95 checkpoint shuts down at Florida-Georgia border after traffic backs up for miles

The checkpoint screening travelers coming from COVID-19 hot spots was shut down for four hours due to traffic issues.

Gov. Ron DeSantis said the purpose of the new checkpoint on I-95 south is to check for people coming from the New York City area

They just asked what state we were coming from. We told them South Carolina. They noticed the New York tags, and she asked if it was a rental car? I just told her, ‘No, we’ve been down here since August in South Carolina.’ She said, ‘Go right ahead,’” he said.

Another checkpoint has been set up on Interstate 10 in the panhandle to screen Louisiana travelers.

“We go through a series of questions that we ask everyone going through the checkpoint,” said Jared Cash, who has overseen the Florida Department of Health’s operations since they began at the checkpoint. “In the past two weeks, has anyone traveled through New York, New Jersey, Connecticut or Louisiana?”

Yes, but that was before we learned that we are farther along on the curve than previously thought because of how many people carry it asymptomatically.

Yes let’s keep panicking! Numbers are nowhere close to projections! This is an agenda. I’ve said it 1000 times. We live in a state where our governor is basically doing what states around him do. He has no leadership skills or insight. And it’s insane if people think we should be locked up until June with latest numbers. INSANE

I think I remember seeing that also.

Fairfield County is behind the NYC area for the peak and the rest of CT is behind Fairfield County.

Gov. Ned Lamont on Thursday told small business owners that he will soon announce that the closure of state schools, set to end on April 20, will extend until at least May 20.

The governor said that the crucial metric of coronavirus hospitalizations seems to indicate that the statewide effort for social distancing is helping to slow the spread of the pandemic.

He said the net increase of 46 hospitalized patients, more than half of the 110-patient increase on Wednesday, is a good sign.

“This is the lowest amount in two weeks,” Lamont said at the start of an afternoon conference call. “The curve is beginning to bend a little bit. Even those hospitals in southern Fairfield County that were hit first, still have capacity. In a very slight way, we’re gaining capacity now.”

“Behind the peak” I can’t wait for everyone to realize how wrong these projected totals and deaths were. This so called peak is a lot sooner then they thought. It’s not even mid April! This thing will have peaked by May 1st latest in CT!
