On March 5 I attended a fundraiser in Manhattan that had hundreds of people, at one point all crammed into a bar. I really wonder if I had in March when I was feeling "off" for a week and thought it was psychosomatic. I had an odd feeling in my lungs and a slight sore throat, and was fatigued. At the time I thought it was in my head. But there are so many asymptomatic cases.

Wow. 14 part time NURSES laid off.

I was already not a Kupchick fan (I think her closing all open spaces is ridiculous, and she only won because of the dem scandal that emerged), but she's hit a new low here. Disgusting.

Hospitals all over the country are laying off and/or furloughing nurses and other healthcare providers. I imagine governments all over are doing the same. Seems like a terribly small savings and not worth the bad PR they’ll get in this case.

Most likely school nurses as there are 18 schools in CT.

Each was assigned to a school which has been closed for weeks now. What do you expect??

What makes being a town employee different than anyone else?
This is smart in the big picture, as the property taxes paid are already amongst the highest in the country.

Meanwhile NYC is recruiting nurses with pay up to 10k a week.
So that's the other end of the scale.

Preliminary results show NYC may be underestimating number of confirmed cased by 12+ times. 1) This is not surprising, despite what the media will tell you. 2) You can't quarantine that -- impossible at this stage.

It will be interesting to see where we are with this a month or so from now as Memorial Day weekend creeps up. I know we'll be far from done with it but you might be surprised at what's different......

Yeah I just read that the Northwell Health System down there and on Long Island is going to give all their health care employees a $2500 bonus!

It certainly will. It's been such a fluid event, socioeconomically and scientifically, since late December.

And here's yet another example (it was on channel 2 news at Noon today, but I've only seen it on their website and on the website of MSN News):

https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2020/04/22/coronavirus-covid-19-singulair-montelukast/

Given that millions take singulair for asthma would be interesting, but who knows?

Its like rearranging deck chairs on the titanic.

Laid off people (in this case nurses) are going to collect unemployment which is funded by taxes. If any thing laying them off adds at least one more Govt employee to the formula because now someone at DOL has to review the unemployment claim(s).
